The Robin's Nest
All around the city this week, birds are busy building their nests. Maybe you’ve seen them from your window. They carry bits of grass and twigs, feathers and moss and turn them into home, where their children will be born. This is the story of the robin’s nest.
Poem:
Robin Builds a Nest
By Charles Foster
The robin sleeps upon a branch
But as the spring draws close
She’s busy flying here and there
To find some twigs and moss.
She fills her beak with withered grass
To carry to her tree
Fashioning a little cup
As if it’s time for tea.
Instead, when all this work is done
It’s time to take a rest --
She dreams of happy work to come
From the comfort of her nest.
