Once you've made the giant bubble solution (see earlier post), you can pour it into one of those 99-cent bubble bottles that come with a small plastic wand inside. You'll find that, if you blow slowly and carefully, you can make much bigger bubbles than usual.

But if you want to make giant bubbles, the best thing to do is to make your own wand. It's a good project for big hands and little hands to do together. Gather the materials and wait for a lazy, rainy morning, when you've got a cup of coffee in one hand and your child is still in her monkey pajamas, and then have fun. At least that's how we do it...

Materials

2 2- or 3-foot dowels (or straight branches) *

2 eye screws

5-7 feet of cotton piping (or clothes line rope)

3-5 washers

* When selecting dowels, we've found that ones that are 2 feet long work well for young children, while adults can use 3 footers to make bigger wands.

Directions

1. Screw an eye screws into one end of both dowels.

2. Cut about 20 inches of cotton piping and tie each end to an eye screw.

3. Cut another length of piping that is about twice as long as the first one.

4. Thread the longer piping with several washers.

5. Tie each end of the long piping to both eye screws.
